Our current patent portfolio consists of over 1,000 diverse patents comprised of valuable technologies ranging from neutron detectors to wheat varieties to nanomaterials.  The patents within our portfolio are owned either by the Kansas State University Research Foundation or by NISTAC via donation from Corporate America.

NISTAC serves as the marketing and licensing agent for inventions held by KSURF for the benefit of K-State and its researchers through a continuing partnership agreement with the Kansas State University Research Foundation (KSURF).

NISTAC specialized in the acquisition of primarily under-utilized corporate technologies from outside the region. This expanded the technological base upon which it could perform its mission of strengthening the regional economy. During this time, NISTAC took in over 1100 patents from over 50 different companies that focused on their core strengths of research and expertise in agriculture, food science, and engineering.
